Central Vietnam’s Vietage railway experience combines classic oldworld charm and first-class service, with modern and luxurious amenities for the highly discerning business or leisure traveller.
Launched in July of 2020 by Anantara Hotel and Resort Group, the Vietage train departs each morning from Da Nang Railway Station and travels the 318 kilometres to Dieu Tri Railway Station in Quy Nhon before making the return journey back to Da Nang in the late afternoon.
Upon arrival at either train station, a Vietage concierge is there to greet you, gather your personal belongings and escort you to your intimate cabin within the six-booth, twelve-person capacity train carriage. Each private enclosure features two generously sized seats, a table in between and a chicly designed rattan partition for privacy.
Once settled into your seat, a Vietage host warmly greets you and offers a cappuccino or ca phe sua da: the traditional Vietnamese iced coffee sweetened with condensed milk, a cup of tea or a glass of bubbles along with a selection of warm, freshly baked pastries. The amenity basket under your seat includes a blanket, pillow and more. Once settled and cozy, have a quick perusal at the provided “Discovery Book” which furnishes the guidance and information necessary for a truly remarkable journey.
During the morning passage, guests will behold picturesque regional landscapes including the ancient city of Trà Kiệu, the first capital city of the Hindu Champa Kingdom, majestic mountain vistas, sprawling rice paddy fields, quaint rural villages, and the glimmering Central Vietnamese shoreline through large picture windows. Try not to miss the historic coastal city of Quảng Ngãi, home to the Long Wall of Vietnam and An Khe Lake, an archaeological site of the Sa Huỳnh culture which flourished between 1000 BC and 200 AD.
To say that the Vietage’s onboard amenities are bountiful is an honest understatement.
They offer a substantial selection of bottomless wines, beers, soft drinks, juices, teas and coffees throughout your journey, and for an additional surcharge, à la carte premium wines and champagnes are available to pair with luscious caviar service and plentiful cheese platters.
Drinks can be served within the comfort of your seat, or as you socialize with your friends and colleagues within the onboard cocktail lounge.
Dining highlights include a generous three-course menu of your choice featuring local and international gastronomic specialities, masterfully crafted by Anantara’s award-winning chefs. Foie gras terrine and duck confit with brioche, compote of onions and Phu Quoc pepper sauce, salmon filet with charred asparagus and micro herbs with lemongrass and roasted chilli beurre blanc and fresh Da Lat strawberries with coconut yoghurt and Vietnamese basil are just an example of their delicious menu offerings. If travelling with children, you may pre-arrange a train-themed kid’s menu that will keep the young ones happy and very well fed.
FANCY A MASSAGE?
Included in your fare is a relaxing half-hour head, neck, and back chair massage provided by the Vietage’s skilful onboard masseuse. Need to get some work done? Your booth includes power outlets/ charging stations and complimentary Wifi so you can keep in touch with the office and your social media while unwinding in pure comfort and relaxation.
