Steffen has been active in international education for close to ten years, with positions in academia and the non-profit sector in the United States, Germany, and now Vietnam. Having started his career as a university professor for German language education, Steffen has since held leadership positions with increasing responsibilities.

As Deputy Director and Head of Language Department at Goethe-Institut Hanoi, Steffen and his team of 20 direct reports and 55 teachers are responsible for providing high-quality language learning experiences to over 4.000 Vietnamese German learners annually. With a keen focus on intercultural communication and driven by a servant leadership style, Steffen always aims to motivate his team to empower personal growth for their customers through meaningful cultural learning experiences.

When not at work, Steffen, together with his spouse, enjoys exploring the rich food scenes of Vietnam, and he is an avid reader as well, with a special love of German author Hermann Hesse. What Steffen appreciates most about the Business Executive Network is the other members’ generosity in sharing their rich experiences and perspectives. The Network provides a protected space to develop and strengthen ideas through the input and feedback of experienced and supportive peers.
